FLANDORP GARDENING SUPPLIES September 8, 2009

(From Kathy Shardlow) :

I went to the Tokai Lions on Saturday am after our meeting. They have additional products for sale now and have introduced plants– at extremely good prices. I didn’t have time to look carefully, but noticed indigenous & exotic and all types – trees too. The plants are quite small, but the prices seem amazing.

I have included the prices of some products, in case you would like to forward them to the members.

They call themselves FLANDORP GARDENING SUPPLIES and there are 2 contact numbers:
Richard 083 5973689
Alistair 082 5196130

Compost           R6/bag
Mulch               R15/bag
(both can be bought by trailer load)

Bounce Back     5kg R30
10kg R40
20kg R70
40kg R120

They also sell Blade Runner, Chicken manure, Rapid Raiser, stones, wood chips, topsoil.

I can’t personally comment on quality, but the prices are great.

‘Men On The Side Of The Road’ August 3, 2009

Hi Guys

Our garden was looking pretty tatty and in need of a winter cut back. We contacted two companies to come quote us on the job. The first company quoted us R7000 for the 5 day job. The second company never bothered to arrive.

So we decided to take matters into our own hands. I contacted Men on the side of the road, an NGO project and asked for two gardeners. They arrived promptly at the arranged time.

Now, we know nothing about gardens, so had my mom drive down from Greyton to supervise. Turns out, these two chaps from Zim know more about gardens than my mom and did the entire R7000 job in one day – beautifully. And for a fraction of the price.

So, if anyone needs a great gardener, mover, helper or handy man, contact Martin on 073 093 7153 or 074 9764261. They charge R120 per day and train fare is extra. I can’t recommend them highly enough.

Have lovely days

Lise

Five Polygala Virgata for those who requested them November 26, 2008

Filed under: Handy Info, What's On This Month — ally @ 4:07 pm

(From Glenda)
I have just had a call from Bridget Berg who gave you the talk in her home on “Gardening for Wildlife”. At the time, some of you showed interest in her Polygala Virgata plants. She potted 5 up for you which are now ready to be planted out. I’m not sure who asked for them, but if you get back to me, I shall help organize collection of them all, so that you can get them into the ground ASAP.
